The City & County of Honolulu provides public bus transportation (The Bus) which is operating to and from Honolulu Airport, and it is by far the cheapest airport shuttle transfer you could find. So, if you want to cut your costs and you don’t have a lot of luggage, use one of the three routes that serve HNL:
- Route No. 19 - the eastbound route runs to Kalihi Kai, downtown Honolulu, the Honolulu Civic Center, Ala Moana Shopping Center, and finally Waikiki;
- Route No. 20 - the eastbound route is the same; the westbound route runs to the Arizona Memorial, Aloha Stadium, Aiea, and finally Pearlridge Shopping Center;
- Route No. 31 - to Kalihi Transit Center.
The buses have numerous departures from HNL Airport every day, and you can find the shuttle bus stops / departure locations on the second level roadway (along the center median).
The bus fares are very affordable:
